Brian Dow – Chief Executive
Brian is also Deputy Chief Executive of our founding charity partner in England, Rethink Mental Illness. He represents Rethink Mental Illness on the Richmond Group of major health charities in England. He is a Trustee of Beyond Shame, Beyond Stigma, which was set up by our ambassadors Jonny Benjamin and Neil Laybourn and is also Co-Chair of the National Suicide Prevention Alliance.
He began his career as a broadcast journalist in Scotland moving to the BBC in London and has spent 20 years in the voluntary sector with organisations including Shelter, the School Food Trust and the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health.
Katie Legg – Director of Strategy and Partnerships
Katie has been working for Mental Health UK since 2017. Initially joining the organisation to lead the Lloyds Banking Group partnership, Katie has more recently been using her experience of consulting on growth and sustainability strategies in sport to evolve the strategy and business model for Mental Health UK through forging new, meaningful partnerships.
Prior to working in mental health, Katie worked in a number of roles in sport, most recently for Sport England. She managed investment with Olympic and Paralympic sports’ National Governing Bodies to maximise the legacy of London 2012 with sports participation across the country. She also worked to ensure similar legacy strategies were built around other major events held in the UK after the Olympics.
Katie is also a Trustee at Fulham Football Club Foundation.
Sarah Murphy – Associate Director for Advice, Information & Training
Sarah has over 15 years’ experience in the third sector, in particular ensuring people affected by poor mental health are given the right advice, information and support to enable them to lead healthier, happier lives. In 2017 she set up our flagship service, Mental Health & Money Advice, the first UK-wide service aimed at improving both financial and mental wellbeing.
Sarah also leads our training and consultancy team. Utilising knowledge and experience gained from working directly with people affected by poor mental health, as well as writing and delivering training to a wide range of audiences on mental health related issues, and from delivering consultancy to public and private sector organisations.
Kelly Brown – Chief Fundraising Officer
Kelly was appointed Director of Corporate Resources (Finance, HR and ICT) for Rethink Mental Illness in March 2018. Before joining Rethink Mental Illness, Kelly had over twenty years’ experience working as a chartered accountant and director of finance.
Previously, Kelly worked as Interim Director of Finance for The Children’s Trust, a leading UK Charity providing rehabilitation, education and community services to children and young people. Prior to that Kelly was the Director of Finance for the Hurley Group and also at Hurley Innovations Limited, a start-up company focused on technology-based innovations.
